Does it work offline?
Section titled “Does it work offline?”Saved samples and kits play locally and can be restored offline. Generating new sounds needs internet access, your Stability API key, and credits on that account.
Do I need a separate Stability account?
Section titled “Do I need a separate Stability account?”Yes. Hella! Pads generates through your own Stability account. Connect its API key in Settings. See account setup.
Can it generate a whole kit at once?
Section titled “Can it generate a whole kit at once?”Each request generates one sample. Build a kit by generating and saving sounds to individual pads.
Can I import my own samples?
Section titled “Can I import my own samples?”WAV import into pads is not currently supported. You can open saved .hellakit presets and export generated samples or previews as WAVs for use in your DAW.
Can I play one sample across the keyboard at different pitches?
Section titled “Can I play one sample across the keyboard at different pitches?”Each pad has one MIDI trigger note. Reassigning that note does not transpose the audio. Hella! Pads plays one-shots and does not provide chromatic sample mapping, looping, a sequencer, or built-in effects.
Why does a sample continue after I release the key?
Section titled “Why does a sample continue after I release the key?”One-shot playback continues until the sample ends. Choose Monophonic in that pad’s Configure tab if a new hit should cut off its previous hit. Polyphonic lets repeated hits overlap.
Does trimming delete the original audio?
Section titled “Does trimming delete the original audio?”No. Saved samples retain their original audio and playback boundaries, so you can reopen Edit and adjust the trim later. See editing samples.
Do kits need their exported WAVs?
Section titled “Do kits need their exported WAVs?”No. Kit presets contain their saved sample audio. A DAW track using an exported WAV may still depend on that separate file, though. Copy imported audio into the project before clearing exports.
Do exported WAVs include my track effects?
Section titled “Do exported WAVs include my track effects?”No. They include the sample’s selected range and trim fade, without Hella! Pads’ master gain or the DAW’s effects. Record or bounce the track in your DAW to capture its processing.
Which systems and formats are supported?
Section titled “Which systems and formats are supported?”Hella! Pads 1.0.0 is available for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 13 or later. The installer includes AU, VST3, and standalone formats, which you can select independently. This build does not support Intel Macs. See requirements and setup.
Is a Windows version available?
Section titled “Is a Windows version available?”Windows support is coming soon. The initial release is for macOS only.
Where are my saved files?
Section titled “Where are my saved files?”The default folders for presets, exports, and outtakes are inside ~/Library/Application Support/Hella Pads/. See settings and storage for the individual paths.
